Shauna joined Ecojustice in 2007 and is currently employed as Philanthropy Officer – Western Canada. She works closely with Ecojustice lawyers and scientists to steward and cultivate Foundations funding. A childhood on Vancouver Island fostered her love for the natural world and today, her reigning avocation is to become a better birdwatcher. In her early career, Shauna taught high school chemistry and biology. After working in the non-profit sector in the early 2000’s, her interest in biodiversity protections got her thinking about ways to make a difference. In particular, the report Rich Wildlife, Poor Protection — advocating for an endangered species law for BC — kindled her interest in Ecojustice’s mission. She feels blessed to be part of this ambitious organization and its efforts to secure strong laws to protect Canada’s environment.
