Mason grew up in along the Chilliwack River in British Columbia. He is currently completing his environmental law specialization at the Shulich School of law at Dalhousie University. Through his role as Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Students’ Society, Mason has been advocating for stronger environmental and human rights legislation at both provincial and federal levels. He is a co-founder and executive director of Sharks of the Atlantic Research and Conservation Centre. He has a degree in Political Science from the University of the Fraser Valley, where he specialised in sustainable community development. Mason holds a certificate in sustainable construction, and a certificate in sustainable horticulture from Selkirk College. Mason’s five year goal is to litigate the right to a healthy environment into the Canadian Constitution.
In his spare time Mason snowboards, mountain bikes, camps, surfs, runs and practices carpentry.
