At Ecojustice we often talk about our commitment to using the law to protect Canada’s environment for future generations. But here’s the thing. Ecojustice staff put their money where their mouths are.
More than half of our staff donate to Ecojustice on a regular basis — including Fraser Thomson, a monthly donor and staff lawyer in our Calgary office.
Here’s his story:
My name is Fraser Thomson and I’m a proud member of the Ecojustice Defenders Club.
I’ve been with Ecojustice for the past two and a half years, as an articling student and a staff lawyer. Every day I’m inspired by the determination of my colleagues and our clients, who despite being outresourced at every turn, consistently win precedent-setting victories for the environment.
I choose to give monthly because as a lawyer, I know firsthand how long it can take for a lawsuit to wind its way through the court system — the steady funding of monthly donors is critical to keeping our work going.
When you make a monthly donation to Ecojustice, you’ll ensure that I can go to court and stand up to the oil and gas companies that harm the air, water and land we all rely on.
And you’ll help us force the government to follow its own laws so that species like the Greater sage-grouse and woodland caribou don’t disappear from the Canadian wilderness forever.
It is easy to be disillusioned by the number of serious challenges facing our planet. But every day that I work at Ecojustice, I’m reminded that there’s reason for hope.
Ecojustice’s strategic litigation model gets results. And with every precedent you help us set, we are making a difference. We cannot forget how powerful we citizens are when we work together for a common good.
Join Fraser and become a member of the Ecojustice Defenders Club today.
Your monthly donation of just $5 will give us the financial security we need to pursue legal precedents that protect Canada’s environment. Ecojustice staff have the necessary skills and expertise to win the toughest legal battles — but you make us fly.
There’s a hero in you. Become a defender today.
