When we left off yesterday, Gavin and Jenna’s trip had been put on hold while they awaited some bike parts in Fargo. Delays again restrict their travels on Day 26, but they manage to hit the road and, at the end of the day, find happiness in a hot tub.
Distance Travelled: 42.14 km (Lodging: Governor’s Inn RV Park, Casselton, North Dakota)
Jenna’s bike wasn’t ready until after 4 p.m., so we spent the better part of the day hanging out in a coffee shop and wandering around Fargo. Since we couldn’t get on the road until just before 5 p.m., we gave up on our original destination and decided to bike to Casselton, the first town west of Fargo. There was only one road heading in that direction: Interstate 94. Heavy traffic moving fast, lots of trucks, construction and frequent on-ramps and exits to cross. It was too bad that this was the road for the start of Jenna’s trip, but there aren’t many ways to get across North Dakota.
We found a hotel with and RV park campground just off the highway in Casselton. Despite the fact that we only paid $12 total for two people, Jenna somehow managed to sweet-talk us passes to the hotel water park. We finished the evening in a hot tub, periodically venturing into a knee deep wading area with a corkscrew red waterslide (that was excellent) and giant yellow basketball hoop.
Gravel and sand make Day 27 difficult, but nothing that a pasta dinner and some luxury items can’t cure.
