OTTAWA - On March 25 2010, the Supreme Court of Canada declined to grant leave to hear Friends of the Earth Canada’s application to hold the federal government accountable for failing to implement the Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act (an Act of Parliament passed in June 2007). 

Climate change is a serious continuing threat to our society, environment and way of life for which the need for judicial guidance will continue to grow as the extent of the impacts of climate change increase. Ecojustice is committed to representing the interests of our public interest clients in holding the Canadian government to account and thereby compelling it to take responsible action on climate change that ensures a sustainable future for present and future Canadians.
