National drinking water report card to be released Nov. 15

Provincial, territorial and federal governments to receive a grade on their efforts to protect Canada’s drinking water
VANCOUVER — Ecojustice will release the third edition of its national drinking water report card, Waterproof 3, in Vancouver on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Released by Ecojustice every five years since the tragedy in Walkerton, Ont., Waterproof
evaluates water policies, programs and legislation across the country
and gives the provincial, territorial and federal governments, a grade
based on how well they’re protecting drinking water. This edition’s
grades range from an ‘A’ to an ‘F’, and are supplemented by a set of key
findings as well as recommendations for improving Canada’s drinking
water systems.
National and
regional press releases, including links to the report card,
infographics, the detailed report and other multimedia, will be issued
at 9 a.m. EST on Nov. 15. These materials will also be available on Ecojustice’s website at www.ecojustice.ca/publications/reports/waterproof-3.
