Dec 10, 2009 03:28 PM

Status: In Progress

Ecojustice is representing Ontario’s first-ever environmental whistleblower complaint under the province’s Environmental Bill of Rights

Ecojustice is representing City of Ottawa engineer Ted Cooper in a legal battle that began when he raised environmental and safety concerns about a controversial plan to develop on Ottawa's Carp River floodplain in 2004.

On behalf of Cooper, the uOttawa-Ecojustice Environmental Law Clinic filed Ontario’s first-ever environmental whistleblower complaint under the province’s Environmental Bill of Rights -- a key legal tool crucial to maintaining public trust in municipal government.

A hearing date before the Ontario Labour Relations Board is pending.
