In 2007, A provincial legislative committee released a report recommending an immediate transition to closed-containment aquaculture and a moratorium on any fish farms near the northern tip of Vancouver Island. These recommendations were in accord with submissions we had made.
A provincial legislative committee (the Special Committee on Sustainable Aquaculture) released a report in May of 2007 recommending an immediate transition to closed-containment aquaculture and recommending a moratorium on any fish farms north of Cape Caution (near the northern tip of Vancouver Island). These recommendations were in accord with submissions and recommendations made by Ecojustice and by CAAR (the Coastal Alliance for Aquaculture Reform). In February 2006, we published a guide to help BC citizens participate in the decision-making process around aquaculture issues impacting their communities.
