Melissa recently helped her clients argue that expanding the Shell Jackpine oilsands mine in northern Alberta would degrade air quality and increase greenhouse gas emissions.
Her early work at Ecojustice focused on protecting woodland caribou from oil sands development and asking the government to secure emergency protection for endangered sage-grouse populations in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Melissa joined our Alberta legal team in 2010. She sits on the board of directors for two not-for-profits organizations and has volunteered with the Sierra Club and Greenpeace.
Melissa also combines volunteer work with her love of travel. She once spent a month in Cape Town, South Africa, helping a human rights organization with its work with refugees, incarcerated youth and abused women.
