Ecojustice Staff Lawyer: Judah Harrison

“I have a hard time accepting that people have a right to pollute the environment while there is no corresponding right to enjoy clean air and water.”

Judah Harrison joined Ecojustice’s Toronto office in 2008, before moving out west to join the Vancouver team the following year.

Judah Harrison, staff lawyer
After obtaining his B.A. (Hons.) from Concordia University in 2000 and graduating from the University of Ottawa’s law school in 2006, Judah articled with the Canadian Environmental Law Association – a legal aid clinic focusing on environmental issues in Toronto.

His early work at Ecojustice has focused on both species-at-risk and wild salmon, including issues related to aquaculture. Judah made a quick impact with successful work protecting the endangered Western painted turtle from being harmed during the dredging of Burnaby Lake, and in pushing the federal government to fully assess the environmental impacts of a 37 per cent expansion of the Doyle Island salmon farm

Judah’s work also includes representing the environmental community at the Cohen Commission, the federal inquiry into the 2009 collapse of sockeye salmon in the Fraser River.

In his spare time, Judah spends as much time as possible outdoors whether camping; gardening; cycling; or - occasionally - hugging trees.
