The Ecojustice Clinic at the University of Ottawa

In 2007, Ecojustice partnered with the University of Ottawa to establish  the Ecojustice Clinic at the University of Ottawa (formerly, the uOttawa-Ecojustice Environmental Law Clinic) – the nation’s first public interest environmental law and policy clinic. After only 3 years of operation, the Clinic has become the environmental movement’s go-to legal representative in Canada’s capital.

 

The Ecojustice Clinic at the University of Ottawa provides free legal expertise to community groups and citizens, drawing upon the University’s strengths in environmental law, and upon Ecojustice's 20 year track record in defending the right of Canadians to a healthy environment. In this setting, an empowering learning environment becomes genuine impact for the environment, as students take on supervised work on active legal cases that represent community members and hold governments and other organizations accountable to environmental laws.

 

The Clinic provides real education, experience on real law files, and real environmental results. The benefits can be seen and felt – by our students, the Ottawa community, and the natural world.
