About Ecojustice

Ecojustice, formerly Sierra Legal Defence Fund goes to court to defend the right of Canadians to a healthy environment.  As Canada's largest and foremost non-profit environmental law organization our trusted voice in the courts enables citizens to expose lawbreakers and hold governments accountable, all while setting powerful precedents for clean water, natural spaces, healthy communities and for global warming solutions.

After nearly 17 years of fighting for environmental justice, in September 2007 we officially changed our name from Sierra Legal Defence Fund to: Ecojustice Canada.  It is a name that clearly reflects the environmental and legal elements of our work and, equally important, it differentiates us from other organizations.

While our name and look has changed, our work remains the same.  We have carried on taking polluters to court and continue to fight for the right of all Canadians to a healthy environment.
